Reaching Everyone and Changing Hearts

It's Never Too Late for Change

Allow change to come from within. With guidance from Reaching Beyond The Walls Inc., we aim to assist you in creating a new vision, building a new future, and being a beacon of light in your community, which is in line with the word of God. We work hand in hand to help individuals love themselves and value the life that they have been given, inspiring them to keep pressing toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14).

Who We Are

Reaching Beyond The Walls Inc started in 2005 as a Christian ministry program. We worked with individuals in need, giving them the tools to break down barriers, renew minds, and become self-sufficient members of the community. In 2018, Reaching Beyond The Walls Inc was officially established. We are now able to go outside the boundaries and lead others through God’s word into the next chapter. The best is yet to come!

Our founder, Dwayne Brown, has worked in Workforce Development for 11 years and Christian ministry for over 20 years. He  has completed over 5,000 training  hours of  workforce development and  re-entry  program development, allowing him to address barriers  that each individual faces in their personal and professional life.

Now, our goal is to guide people as they move forward with their lives. We want to help them realize that in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us (Romans 8:37)  and to see themselves as Christ does....fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).

About Dwayne J. Brown

Dwayne J. Brown obtained his offender workforce development specialist certification from the state of Maryland’s Department of Labor Licensing and Regulations. This is in partnership with Maryland NIC/OWDS and the Department of Public Safety and Corrections.

About Karen E. Brown

For the last 10 years, Karen has worked as the Senior Director of Human Resources at BridgePoint Hospital and BridgePoint Sub-Acute and Rehabilitation Center. She oversaw multiple nursing facilities and was responsible for strategizing and creating innovative ways to engage all employees. Additionally, she assisted in the establishment of systems and training to develop exceptional health care professionals and empower all employees.

Karen has a broad range of experience, with a specialization in talent management. This includes workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, employee development, and employee engagement. She also has significant experience in managing employee relations, benefits, and compensation and compliance issues as well as negotiating labor contracts.

Karen is a leader on the Survey Readiness Team to ensure compliance with various regulatory bodies and standards.

People look at human resource professionals and see paper-pushers whose role is to keep law and order. However, it is so much more. They deal with the lives of individuals as they begin their careers and impact workplaces. They mentor, listen, give insight, keep the peace, promote integrity, uplift morale, and, hopefully, impact someone’s life in a positive manner at the end of the day.

With a belief in providing all employees with meaningful work and a caring/compassionate environment, Karen motivates employees to give high-quality care to their patients.

“I enjoy knowing that when I hire great people, it has an impact on the health and well-being of others. We are not dealing with numbers, screws, and bolts, but we impact lives. So we need to hire the best to ensure that the best care is provided to those who need it—our patients and residents.”

Work Experience

Karen started her career as a human resource assistant and a recruitment specialist in 1990 at St. Elizabeth Home for Nursing Care. She later moved to Civista Health Inc., Holy Cross Hospital, and Prince George’s Hospital, working as a health care recruiter.

Aside from being the founder of DKB Consulting,  co-founder of Reaching Beyond the Walls Ministry, Karen sits on the Board of Directors of Care In Motion, Inc. She also serves as a volunteer of Farming for Hunger and is active in her church as a deaconess, praise and worship leader, and the director of children’s Sunday school and children’s church.

In addition, Karen is a member of the District of Columbia Hospital Association (DCHA). She also served numerous years on the board of the Washington Metropolitan Health Care Recruiters Association.

Karen earned her Bachelor of Science in Community Health Education from Towson State University. She resides in Waldorf, Maryland with her husband.

Mission

We make it our mission to reach beyond socio-economic barriers that stifle life by offering hope, empowering individuals, transforming lives, and sharing Christ’s love through service.

Vision

  • To create a new vision that allows change to come from within self
  • Rebuilding our community through the word of God

Values

We value the spirit of all people for they are created in the image of God.

“I will praise Thee for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Thy works, and my soul knoweth right well.” (Psalm 139:14)

Goals

To change people from the inside out, to love themselves and value the life they have, and to keep working to achieve those things in life each person deserves

What does “reaching beyond the walls” mean?

It means that we will not sit within the walls of any place when there are people outside who are in need of healing, forgiveness, and love.

Heartfelt Comments and Messages

Read through the following testimonials to see how Reaching Beyond The Walls Inc has been of assistance to people from various walks of life:

“Hello, Mr. Brown

I finally got a full time job. It is in Bowie. A little further than I wanted to travel but I needed to move on and bite the bullet. It is a lot more automated than I have had in my background but I am learning daily and accomplishing a little more. I pray I make it through the 90 day probation. I have been working so hard to please and learn as quick as I can. Boy, being unemployed for so long really adds to the stress of learning but if this is where God wants me to be it will work and if not, he will open another door. I am a firm believer in that.

Take care and I do appreciate your continued support. You have made your mark in my life and I will not forget.”

-Debbie

“So proud of what you do to help others to recognize the goodness/greatness within them through positive inspiration/motivation - rearranging the thought processes thus elevating their minds to think positively, enhancing their self-awareness to visualize their true potential, and increasing opportunities for them to build their skills through training and education. We need more dedicated and passionate individuals like you working in Re-entry. Say "Hello" and "Thank you" to your beautiful and supportive wife.”

-Constance

“It was a pleasure meeting you today. I wanted to express my appreciation and gratitude for Mr. Dwayne Brown. I came into the employment center three weeks ago. I was going through some trials and found myself broken and in a dark place in my life, with no job, recently married and tons of stress. Mr. Brown listened and went to WORK! By my second visit he had already had an interview lined up for me with Chevy's. By my third visit he had yet another job interview lined up for me with Ricoh. I did not know what great things In store for me would be. However, Mr. Brown gave me hope all over again. So not only did I leave the employment center with a new hope and new inspiration I now have employment.

Mr. Brown made a huge impact on my life and I will never forget him.

Mr. Brown you are a true inspiration and a blessing in my life. I can now move forward and look forward to the many great things that's in store for me.

God bless you always,”

Monica

“Good Afternoon Mr. Brown,

I realize you’re not in the Leonardtown office any more, and I am sure they have great people there. However, sometimes you meet someone who has an edge, that really cares and knows what he is talking about. That is, you sir!

You may not remember me, but I was fired for standing up for the rights of one of my team mates. They have a team mate and he could use your help.

I know you have the right attitude and motivational skills to help Ricky out, I am sure once Ricky meets with you he will realize that as well. If your able to set up a meeting and Ricky is willing please consider contacting him. He would do well to sit in YOUR orientation and hear the same things from you that I did, you made a world of difference me just talking to you once. You made me realize what a strength I had and to not let those people make me feel down and reignite my fire and self-worth. Thank you.”

-Greg

“Mr. Brown,

Thank you so much for a motivating workshop this afternoon. I learned more than I had planned from you. I would love to be on your contact list.

I would be delighted being a part of your email list regarding any meetings or workshops you have during the weeks to come. You are an excellent motivating speaker and I would appreciate to learn more from you. Thanks again for all that you have helped me with so far. I decided not to keep procrastinating, which is why I am swiftly reaching out!

God Bless,”

-Cory
